Carneros is an AVA that straddles both the Napa Valley and Sonoma. It is here, on the Napa Valley side, in an area of expansive rolling hills, cool breezes and an ethereal fog that seems to have rolled in from an old film noir, that our Truchard Chardonnay is grown.
The soft edges of the land, the migratory birds, and the old roads that carve through the land of Carneros make for a spectacular drive. But for us, it is the spectacular Chardonnay that makes this part of the world so other-worldly. For it is those cool winds that come in from San Pablo Bay, the lower temperatures, the clay in the soil and the sun exposure that prepare and permit our Chardonnay grapes to develop their extraordinary characteristics.
